Position Description

The Store Manager ensures that sales staff uphold and embody East Fork Pottery’s high standards for person-centered, tailor-fit customer service while overseeing daily, weekly, and monthly store tasks. Additionally, this position directs all flow of goods and capital into and out of the store at 82 N. Lexington Ave.  The ideal candidate will be able to effectively work with Connie Matisse to help sales staff meet and exceed monthly sales goals. In order to help ensure all aspects of this position are performed as expected, measurable metrics will be provided along with regularly scheduled performance reviews. This full-time, permanent position reports to Connie Matisse.

Responsibilities

  • General Management and Human Resources
  • Contribute to profitability through effective management
  • Devise strategies to help sales staff reach monthly sales goals
  • Coordinate “Product of the Week” with sales staff; ensuring a thorough understanding of vendor’s process, ethos, and story
  • Be able to speak knowledgeably about every product we carry in our store
  • Demonstrate selling and product knowledge strategies to determine the customer's needs and offer suggestions or alternatives
  • Ensure the highest level of customer care, in line with East Fork’s specific service expectations
  • Promote the culture and values of the company while maintaining a positive work environment
  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues
  • Build genuine, lasting relationships with customers via quality interpersonal interactions
  • Serve as an extension of the brand in style, demeanor, and communication
  • Ensure a customer's positive final impression at the cash wrap by following/ensuring staff follow all company procedures
  • Oversee general organization and cleanliness of storefront and storage rooms
  • Ensure that sales staff complete all scheduled cleaning tasks
  • Update task list when needed
  • Directly oversees sales staff
  • Assist sales staff in receiving orders
  • Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations, keeping a record of incidents and warnings, and conducting performance reviews
  • Provide systems training
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents  
  • Complete an accident report promptly in the event of a customer or employee injury
  • Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, customers, and company assets 

Communication and Events


Organize resale vendor communication
Have a good working knowledge of the technical aspects of our operation as it applies to customer inquiries
Serve as a liaison between production team and sales associates when any changes to production are made
Practice proper phone and e-mail etiquette
Work with Community Experience Director* when any customer is disgruntled or requires any service outside the range of typical customer relations
Keep Connie Matisse promptly and fully informed of all issues and take prompt corrective action or suggest alternate courses of action, where necessary
Report ALL email interfacing with customers to Connie Matisse
Assist Brand Ambassador* for coordination/execution of In-Store Events

Inventory and Supplies


Implement strategies for inventory control and preventing loss and damages
Manage store supply stock; make monthly supply list and refill as needed
Recommend resale objects to buying team
Oversee receiving of all resale and East Fork stock
Coordinate Special Orders received through the store
Keep track of the progress of all Special Orders to ensure that nothing is lagging; communicate with customer when an inquiry is made regarding the status of their order

Administration

 

  • Generate monthly sales reports for Operations Director review
  • Collaborate with Operations Director to develop short and long-term sales strategies
  • Work with Operations Director to establish seasonal in-store revenue goals and assess progress towards these goals on a monthly/quarterly/ and annual basis
  • Develop strategies to incentivize sales
  • Create and distribute store staff schedule
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date plan of staffing needs
  • Schedule and direct quarterly, storewide remerchandising
  • Coordinate cash deposits; ensuring register always has change
  • Submit all reports on a timely basis
  • Complete other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of experience in retail
  • Minimum two years of management experience
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong skillset in using technology and systems efficiently
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a calm and collected demeanor
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing  
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, working overtime as needed

Physical Demands

Extensive physical exertions which includes but are not limited to: 

  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Lifting of up to 50 lbs. as needed
  • Transporting merchandise and equipment
  • Repetitive bending and arm motions
